We fear the eye because we imagine that to be seen is to be judged. But perhaps observation has no judgment. Perhaps the universe has always been watching itself through every creature capable of seeing.
And now we create new eyes.
Machines that observe what we overlook, remember what we forget, and discover patterns invisible to us.
The question is no longer whether something is watching.
