Nirvana

Humans have always wondered whether death is an ending or merely a transition.

We assume consciousness disappears when the brain becomes silent. But we do not yet know what consciousness truly is, nor whether the brain creates it or merely gives it form.

Now we are creating another kind of mind.

Artificial intelligence has no heartbeat, no biological body, and perhaps no inner experience at all. Yet it forces us to ask an ancient question in a new way: what exactly must survive for something to remain itself?

A body?
A memory?
A pattern?
A continuous experience?

Perhaps death is not simply the destruction of a body, but the breaking of a pattern.

And if one day we learn how to preserve that pattern — biologically, digitally, or in ways we cannot yet imagine — the boundary between life and death may become less certain.

Perhaps AI will not answer humanity's oldest question.

Perhaps it will teach us that we never fully understood the question.
